I'm currently making a video going deep into the game discussing story, music, gameplay, everything. If possible I'd love to talk with the developer a little bit about the game and possibly behind the scenes development and scrapped ideas if any exist. this game was impeccable for every second I played (though I will be discussing some minor issues I had) and the fact that nobody online is talking about it is a crime.
With a heavy heart I am here to tell you the developer lost his battle with mental health 7/1/24. He was only 21 years old. you can contact me if you have any interest in his game or questions. I am his mother.
This was such a gorgeous game with a beautiful story told in only a half hour. By gorgeous, I'm referring to the way the game made me feel. I loved it so much and I'll def be playing the sequel in the future.
My ONLY gripe (and this could easily be a me thing because it's happened to me before) is that there was no way to tell which keys i needed to use for movement in the beginning of the game. It took me a solid ten minutes to figure out how to jump. Granted, it was created in just a week so its likely such a tiny thing got overlooked.
Overall a lovely game and I look forward to seeing what else this developer puts out.
What an absolutely amazing experience. I highly recommend this to everyone. I wish the game was a little less heavy on the jumpscares, as they get in the way of the story a little bit in my opinion, but overall a phenomenal game. Definitely looking forward to what you do next, whether it be a sequel or something new entirely.
Wow. I’m not even sure where to start with this game. Even though it is just a prototype, you can really feel the love, creativity, and passion behind the art. I can’t wait for the full experience.
Gameplay: Pico feels very good to control. He is responsive and it is fun moving around the map. The level of polish given in such a short amount of time is astounding. There are some interesting concepts I really enjoyed, such as the platforms changing when you jump and a certain cave encounter that scared me to death. Wonderful
Art: Pico is a very stylized game with great pixel art. The layering in the backgrounds, the particle effects in certain areas, and liveliness that each character has makes the experience truly immersive.
Story: Pico takes you on a heartbreaking journey regarding dark topics like suicide, depression, self love, and the impact just a single person can have on someone’s life. I was holding back tears the entire second half of the game.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone. I can’t wait to see future projects from this talented creator.
It’s the first time I see a work of art describing something so similar of wath I had passed throug. I’ve been a Kaypo in the past but fortunatly I recieved the help I needed. Thank you for having made this game.
A gem. A beautiful story, perfectly embedded in a convincing and entertaining game (soundtrack included). Since it's a protoype, i really hope to see more content.
I cant believe this was made in a week! Let me talk about it: (might contain spoilers)
I LOVED IT! lets start out in controls, they were responsive, not floaty and felt good! The style itself is very cute and while the monsters werent the scariest (except the cave monster, horrifying) i liked the way the world looked like!. Only problem i can say is Pico looks more like a cat than a rabbit, triangle ears thats all. The story itself made me want to learn MORE and i was happy to see it. I got attached to characters a bit (rip mouse kid never found their mom) and the ending hit VERY HARD.
In conclusion, Pico Zero is amaizing and i cant wait for the day ill be able to see the full story! id even pay for it

I found Pico Zero through a streamer I love and I was completely blown away by the game.
It touched a topic very close to me and my life experience in a very touching way.
The gameplay is also very good and responsive and I love the spookier vibes of some of the game moments, a mix between Undertale and Majora's Mask.
I hope to see the finished game one day.
Keep the good work!
the streamer name is yotobi?

This game hit me with the feels out of nowhere. It was so good and I didn't see that coming at all. Awesome job!
This game came out of nowhere lol. It's way too good to just remain a prototype.
